Macclenny.com launched Version 5 earlier this year, and with it came some new features. One of which, the Online Arcade, has be a success!
"It is really starting to pickup", says the web-master of Macclenny.com Nathan Johnson in reference to the usage of the Arcade.
"We started out with a few games and continue to add more on a regular basis."
The Arcade System for Macclenny.com offers a variety of Flash based games. Visitors can play a few games without needing to register on the Message Board. But when they register for their free account they get access to all the games as well as having their high score kept on record.
"The scoring system is setup so that not any one person can 'Run the Table' and have only their name listed in the high score list. It only keeps track of your individual high score and posts that, instead of all your scores. This way everyone has a chance to have their name listed. We have heard comments from visitors saying how much fun it is to try and get the high score."
According to Mr. Johnson, the Arcade like other features of the site, started off slowly in terms of their usage. But as time has gone by, more than 1,300 games have been played in the Arcade since its launch earlier in the year. They expect that number to grow as they add more games, and more people warm up to the system.
"All the games are Flash Based so they should work with any browser, and we setup games that are smaller in size so our Dial-Up users won't get flustered. Game Control is also important, you won't need to go out and buy extra hardware as most games use your Keyboard or Mouse."
The Arcade is Free to use and to access all the games requires that you sign up for a free account.
With that, I think I am going to go save the Planet from Alien Invaders.
