A Baker County volunteer firefighter was injured Monday when he fell through the floor of a burning mobile home.

The firefighter, Don Loudermilk, was taken to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville with second- and third-degree burns to the left side of his back, Fire Chief Richard Dolan said.

Loudermilk was part of an initial crew to go into the doublewide mobile home. A family of three that lived in the residence on North Raulerson Road was not home and no one else was injured in the 2:20 a.m fire.

Loudermilk is expected to be hospitalized for a week and will require skin grafts, Dolan said.
